* WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS *
- Eyelash extensions are individual strands of faux lashes expertly attached to each natural eyelash with a special medical grade adhesive. They are applied to the eyelashes themselves and never in direct contact with your skin.
- They are individual extensions made of a synthetic material to look like perfect natural eyelashes; thicker at the base and thinner at the tip with a slight curl. They range in thickness, curl shape, lash length and durability. They come in many different colors; the most popular is Solid Black.
- They are adhered one by one to a natural lash with a medical-grade bonding adhesive giving the appearance of a darker, more voluptuous lash-line.
* WILL EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?
- Good quality eyelash extensions require time and precision. When lashes are correctly applied they cause no damage to your natural lashes.
- Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.
- Breakage can also occur if the weight or length of the extensions exceeds what the natural lashes can handle. If you do have breakage a great solution is a lash serum, that helps your lashes grow faster and stronger.
* WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLASSIC, HYBRID AND VOLUME EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
• Classic lashes are individual lashes: one lash-extension applied to one natural lash, and are suitable for:
- Clients that have a good amount of healthy natural lashes.
- Clients that desire a natural mascara look effects.
• Volume lashes are multiple lightweight lash-extensions applied to one natural lash, which create what we call a “fan”.
- Volume are 2-7 times the thickness and 2-7 times the lusciousness, it’s sure creating a dramatic look that’s sure to turn every head one passes by!!!
• There are also Hybrid that’s a mixture of Classic & Volume lashes to create a fuller set for those with thinner natural lashes or for those wanting a denser Classic set.
* ARE ALLERGIC REACTIONS COMMON?
Reactions are not too common but they do happen, and it does seem possible to gradually acquire an intolerance for the adhesive.
* WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE AN ALLERGIC REACTION ?
- The adhesives used for eyelash extensions contain cyanoacrylates, it is only applied to lashes, not to the skin. It is very unlikely that you will experience an allergic reaction, however we are highly recommended and offered clients to have a patch test 24 hours before a full set of extensions are carried out to check for sensitivity to the adhesive.
* HOW LONG WILL MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST ?
- An average eyelid has approximately 100 natural hairs which shed at an average rate of 25-35% every 2 weeks, and 40-50% every 3 weeks.
- Therefore, when the natural hair sheds, so does the extension that was attached to it. Since new hairs are always growing in, refills can be performed to attach extensions to the new growth keeping the lashes looking full continuously or for as long as you wish to maintain them.
- Realistically, if cared for properly, eyelash extensions can last up to 4 weeks, give or take a couple of weeks, falling out with the natural lash. Some will be lost within a couple of weeks as part of the natural cycle, so it is commonly required to get a refill every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain them.
* WHY DO I NEED TO GET REFILLS ?
There are three reasons you need to fill your lashes.
• One is because your natural lashes grow out flipping the extensions.
• Two is your lashes fall out naturally (taking the extension) and regrow.
• Three is the adhesive breaks down and the lash extensions fall off.
Anyone of these can be the cause of you losing your lash extensions.
*HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO GET A REFILL ?
On average, refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep the lashes looking their best. With proper maintenance semi-permanent eyelash extensions can be kept up indefinitely through regular refills.
* WHAT SHOULD I DO PRIOR TO MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS APPOINTMENT?
- Please Remove all eye makeup and clean your natural lashes with an oil-free cleanser.
- If you wear contact lens, we recommend removing them.
- Avoid caffeine and any other stimulants that may cause your eyes to flutter involuntarily.
- Refrain from curling or perming your natural lashes prior to receiving your full set.
* HOW DO I CARE FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?
- It can take up to 48 hours for the eyelash extension adhesive to fully cure the bond between your natural lash and the extensions.
- First off don’t get them wet for 24-hours, this means sweat, tears, showering, swimming and much more.
- After the 24 hour period you should gently wash them everyday. This helps avoid possible build up and blepharitis (Never heard of it? Look it up it’s a real thing).
- Avoid anything oil based as it will break down the adhesive.
- Also avoid heat, lash-extensions are synthetic, they will lose curl or even become singed when exposed to excessive heat even for a second, like opening the oven.
- While sleeping, lashes can tangle or flip to the sides, so please try to sleep on your back.
- Brush through your lashes each morning with a clean mascara wand to reshape the extension and keep them fluffed into place.
* CAN I WEAR MAKEUP WITH MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
- Yes, you can wear regular eye makeup like eyeshadow and foundation.
- However be aware of eyeliner ( your best bet is to use black eyeshadow and apply it with a fine tipped, slanted makeup brush), but please do not put mascara on your extensions unless it’s an approved extension safe mascara.
- Mascaras (or eyeliners) those can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions.
* CAN I SWIM IN MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
- Yes, however salt water and chlorine will slowly begin to break down the adhesive.
- The best way to avoid this is to wash your lashes directly after swimming, preferably with a lash cleanser but if not just rinse them off with clean water.
* WHICH STYLE OF LASH-EXTENSIONS WILL LOOK GOOD WITH MY EYES?
- The answer depends on your eye shape and lashes.
- Generally speaking:
• Natural-eye (we call “Kitten”) makes your eyes look more open/larger.
• Cat-eye makes your eyes look wider, or more almond shaped.
• Doll-eye will make them look more noticeable.
- Don’t be afraid to try something new you might just love it!
* WHAT LENGTH OF LASH-EXTENSIONS SHOULD I GET?
- Again, the length of your natural lashes will greatly effect the maximum length of extensions you want to apply to them.
- Too long and they will fall out faster and cause breakage.
- Consider that everyones eyes are set different so what looks like a 14mm extension on your friend may not look the same as a 14mm lash extension on you.
- A tip: if you wear glasses and don’t want your new extensions to brush them as you blink, don’t go longer than a 12mm lash.
* HOW DO I CLEAN MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS WITHOUT LOSING THEM?
- We highly recommend the Lash Cleanser that is gentle but works miracles!
- The best way to clean them is to use a fine tipped makeup brush and gently brush it through at the base of your lashes, rinse throughly and then dab dry with a paper towel, they have fewer fibers so they don’t catch lashes and pull them out.
* WHY AM I LOSING MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS SO FAST?
- This is a hard question to answer because we are always looking for ways to increase retention, but everyone is different.
- Here are a few possibilities:
• You are going a lash cycle which is when a majority of your natural lashing are moving from the growth stage to a shedding stage in their natural cycle.
• Lash sheds are also common in the Spring and Fall.
• You got them wet in the first 24 hours and the adhesive did not cure completely.
• Humidity also has an effect on the curing process so maybe the salon wasn’t humid enough/was too humid to adhere properly.
• You traveled from an area where the humidity was drastically different, say California to Utah.
• It could be that you have a tendency for oily skin that causes the adhesive to break down (ask your lash artist to double prime with alcohol or saline solution).
• There are dozens of potential problems and solutions, but please don’t assume that it is your lash artists fault.
* WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS STAY LONGER?
- The best tip is to stop touching them, the oils in your fingers can break down the adhesive, not to mention that you are probably pulling some off on your own.The less you mess with them the better off you’ll be.
- Next, follow the proper aftercare instructions. Additionally you can purchase a sealant but use it sparingly.
- Consider going a length shorter to increase retention.
* WHAT DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS LOOK LIKES AND HOW DO THEY FEEL?
- Our eyelash extensions look and feel completely real as each application is customized to your eye shape, natural lash line, and desired look.
- We offer different curls, thicknesses, and lengths that are indistinguishable in weight to human lashes thereby providing a weightless feel to your lash line.
- Our experienced, professional lash stylists will choose a variety of extensions to create the most flattering, natural, and beautiful look for you.
* WHY DO MY LASH EXTENSIONS FLIP OR LAY SIDEWAYS AFTER A FEW WEEKS?
- Natural eyelashes grow out in a corkscrew motion.
- Therefore as your natural lashes grow they begin to twist and the attached lash follows suit.
* I SLEPT ON MY EYELASHES AND NOW THEY ARE LAYING FUNNY, WHAT CAN I DO?
- Wash them, while wet gently brush through them them use your blow dryer on the cold setting to dry them while you continue to brush them upwards and in the correct direction.
* DO I NEED TO TAKE A BREAK FROM MY LASH-EXTENSIONS? IF SO HOW OFTEN?
- Every 6 months to a year, a two week break can be beneficial but is not necessary.
- However if you decide to continue getting lash extensions without taking a break, we do recommend using a lash serum to maintain and strengthen the natural lashes.
* CAN I HAVE MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS REMOVED?
- Eyelash extensions can be easily removed by a Lash Stylist using a special gel remover formulated to quickly dissolve the medical-grade adhesive and gently wipe away the lash extensions.
- The process is painless and will not harm your natural hairs – taking less than 30 minutes.
- Please do not attempt to remove lash extensions yourself as this can cause damage to your natural lashes
* IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT FOR GETTING EYELASH EXTENSIONS? CAN EYELASH EXTENSIONS BE APPLIED ON ANYONE?
- Beauty and Cosmetics are never restricted by boundaries like age. There is no age requirement for getting eyelash extensions. However, if you are under 18, you would need parental permission.
- Anyone with an eyelash to attach to can receive eyelash extensions.
- However, if you have any of the following conditions we advise you to not having eyelash extensions:
• Extremely sensitive eyes or skin
• Eye infection of any kind
• Allergy to cyanoacrylate (this is used in acrylic nails and most adhesives of any kind)
* CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE APPLICATION PROCESS?
- The application process is very relaxing, just like receiving a spa service. You will lie back on a plush table and have your eyes closed the entire time.
- The application is very gentle and can be best described as though someone is gently brushing through your lashes. The service generally takes between 90-150 minutes to apply a full set and refills can be done in as little as 45-60 minutes.
- The procedure is so relaxing and comfortable that many clients fall asleep.
